July 2022 Japan GLP Summer Camp
GLP Summer in Japan 2022
7.31.2022 ~ 8.13.2022
The Global Leadership Program this year was held in Japan for the first time ever. Starting on the 31st of July, the two-week-long English camp focused on discussing social issues and global news in English, with the goal of improving the student’s English communication skills through group activities and English Brush-up sessions. In addition, students were able to broaden their perspectives and develop problem-solving skills through interactive sessions with our overseas staff in Europe and teaching assistants with unique cultural backgrounds. On the last day of the camp, students were given the opportunity to showcase their findings to their parents through a presentation that will be conducted in English.
This year, the students were able to visit various areas in Chiba that contributed to their educational and personal growth, such as Boso no Mura, an outdoor museum rich in Japanese history, or the Chiba Science Museum, where students could expand their knowledge on how technology works. Students were also pushed to their physical limits during the four-hour hike at Mount Nokogiri and the forest adventures at Tarzania, which created a sense of camaraderie among students and encouraged them to help one another in times of need and step out of their comfort zones.
The presentation at the end of the camp went really well with every student completing their presentation on time and being able to present it to their parents entirely in English. Topics varied from environmental issues such as plastic waste to possible medical breakthroughs that can be made through the implementation of 3D printing technology.
