Program Summary
The GLP aims to improve students’ potential by focusing on five main areas. Global Discussion provides students the opportunity to discuss social issues and global news, with one another and with our European staff and teaching assistants who come from unique cultural backgrounds. Through these discussions, students will learn more about the world, broaden their perspectives, and develop their problem-solving skills. Students will also participate in team-building activities to develop leadership and communication skills. Leadership orientation asks the students to present their schedules to the team at the beginning of each day. This provides a great opportunity for them to partake in a leadership role and improve their self-confidence. In the English Brush-up sessions, students will review English vocabulary and grammar in order to bring their English up to a native level. Through this program, students will have the opportunity to engage with people of various backgrounds and hone their English skills while gaining confidence through discussions of important global matters.
Language engagement expectations
Consistent and active participation in discussions is expected. The program is conducted in English but does not require native-level proficiency. You will receive a certificate upon completion of the Global Leadership Program in Japan. Prior to participating in the program, you will be interviewed briefly regarding your literacy, writing, and oral discussion levels.
PROGRAM goals
The program aims to develop students’ awareness in global society by discussing themes pertaining to daily issues. Through such discussions, students will develop their critical thinking, learn by actively listening to peers, and practice public speaking to increase confidence. Furthermore, the simulations will enrich students’ oral discussion methodologies and abilities to work in a team-oriented environment. Students will also obtain an understanding of industry structures, including how corporations and bureaucratic governments function.
